Team-building and social-emotional activities for kindergarten

Sharing, waiting, losing, comforting: the hardest curriculum in the building. These eight activities practise it on purpose — and show families the friend their child is becoming.

Social-emotional learning happens in real moments, but it can be rehearsed. Cooperative games (where the group wins or nobody does) and feelings vocabulary are the two highest-return practices.

Parents worry most about friendships. A photo of two children lifting a parachute together, tagged ‘Teamwork’, answers the question they never quite ask: is my child okay with the others?

Questions we get

Frequently asked, honestly answered.

What are social-emotional skills in kindergarten?

Recognising and naming feelings, waiting and sharing, cooperating toward a shared goal, resolving small conflicts with words, and showing kindness. They predict school success better than early academics.

How do we show parents their child's social growth?

Photograph cooperative moments — a shared brush, a lifted parachute — and tag them ‘Teamwork’ or ‘Kindness’. Over a term, Oyku's per-child feed becomes a visible record of a friend being made.
