Two jobs
- Operational log: naps, bottles, meals, nappies, medication. Necessary; regulated in many places; read for facts.
- Emotional evidence: a photo of the child content and absorbed. Read for reassurance; remembered; forwarded.
Running both without doubling work
- 1Keep the log as ticks and times in your management system. No prose.
- 2Replace the ‘today she…’ paragraph with one photo in a moments feed, tagged with the activity.
- 3Time the moment before 10:30 for infants and toddlers.
- 4Tell parents the split at intake: ‘facts here, faces there.’
What happens to the daily sheet
Some centres keep it, slimmer. Some drop the written highlights entirely after a term because the moments feed does that job. Licensing rules decide the floor; parents decide the rest. Our daycare page explains how Oyku sits beside your log.
