The five-word rule
A caption is not an observation. It's the sentence you'd say to the parent at the door. Specific beats sweet; the child's words beat yours.
Twelve captions that work
- “First time all by himself.”
- “She named the snail Bob.”
- “Invented orange, apparently.”
- “Eleven pours. Zero spills.”
- “Waited her turn. Twice.”
- “Built it. Knocked it down. Rebuilt it.”
- “Asked why the sky.”
- “Shared without being asked.”
- “Read the whole menu. Backwards.”
- “Tree pose was wobbly. Savasana was a nap.”
- “Taught Ayaan the crab walk.”
- “Would not leave the mud kitchen.”
Why it matters in print
In the yearbook, the caption is what the family reads aloud. Years later it's the line that brings the day back. Oyku prints teachers' captions verbatim — no rewriting.
