Oyku in Texas · United States

The daycare app Texas families open on purpose.

From Houston's suburbs to Austin's startups and the Dallas–Fort Worth sprawl, Texas has one of the largest and fastest-growing child care markets in the country — and some of the longest commutes. Parents want to see the day before they've finished the drive.

What's different in Texas

Texas child care operations are licensed and inspected by Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) Child Care Regulation. Minimum standards for licensed centers cover supervision, ratios, records and parent communication; inspectors typically want to see that a written policy exists and is followed, including for photographs of children.

The state's mix is distinctive: large for-profit chains, faith-based centers, Montessori schools and a strong private pre-K sector, all competing for families who tour four or five options. A living, per-child feed is the most visible difference between two centers with similar fees.

Texas is also a bilingual market. Spanish-speaking families are a large share of enrollment in many centers; a photo needs no translation, which is one reason moment-based communication out-performs newsletters here.

Keep the written photo policy, a consent-status screenshot and the approval log ready for inspection visits.

Consent & data

Tiered consent (family-only / group / public), recorded per child and enforced by software. FERPA directory-information opt-outs apply where the school receives federal funds; COPPA's 2026 amendments make ‘no child accounts, no ad SDKs’ the safe default for apps.

Questions from Texas

Asked by locals

Does Oyku work alongside my Texas center's billing software?

Yes. Keep Procare, Brightwheel, Playground or whatever runs billing and attendance; Oyku is the family-facing photo and video layer beside it.

How does Oyku help with Texas licensing visits?

Consent is recorded per child and enforced automatically; every post passes an approval queue; both are exportable as evidence that your written photo policy is followed.

Do you support Spanish-speaking families?

The app UI is English today with additional languages on the roadmap; because Oyku is photo-first with short captions and reactions, bilingual centers report high engagement regardless.
